Here We Grow

Kingsway will be modernizing our facility to meet the current and future needs of residents and families.  The Kingsway expansion project has begun and plans call for a two-story, 56,000 square foot expansion of Kingsway Arms Nursing Center that will convert existing two-person rooms into private rooms, increasing the amount of private rooms from 58 to 134.  The total number of beds will remain at 160, however 20 additional beds at Kingsway Manor Assisted Living will be dedicated to helping seniors with dementia in the new Memory Center.  Both Kingsway Arms Nursing Center and Kingsway Manor Assisted Living will have new common areas for dining, visiting, relaxing, socializing, and recreational programs.

“This is something we have had on the drawing board for some time,” said Michael McPartlon, Vice President of Kingsway.  “We feel this is something our customers will expect out into the future.”

The addition will contain 40 skilled nursing beds on the first floor and 20 assisted living units on the second floor.  It will connect the nursing center with the assisted living building.

Kingsway Community, founded in 1975 by its President, Dr. J. Peter McPartlon, is located on Kings Road in the Woodlawn section of Schenectady.  Kingsway offers a full range of services from home care, independent living apartments, adult day services, respite, assisted living and skilled nursing, all conveniently located on a well-maintained 25-acre campus.

“After thirty-two years of serving the seniors of the Capital Region, we are excitied about the opportunity to grow and modernize our facilities for generations to come,” explained Dr. McPartlon.
