Caring for the elderly has been a way of life for the McPartlon family since 1975.  A native of Schenectady, Dr. J. Peter McPartlon has been an involved and active member of our community.  When he realized the need for a long-term care residence in the area, he envisioned a home for the elderly that would encompass all the warmth and love of a family.  His dream became reality with the opening of Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. This 160 bed skilled nursing home provides 24 hour care while recognizing the most important elements of any therapeutic program - the dignity and respect of each individual.

We have continued to expand our family to assist seniors with different needs and lifestyles.  In 1986 Parkland Garden Apartments opened to offer independence and security to seniors no longer wishing or able to maintain a large home.  With a full array of services including housekeeping, dining in the Fireside Room and exciting social programs, seniors in these 65 apartments have the opportunity to meet others with common interests and backgrounds.  Kingsway Court Apartments are designed for seniors who want live independently and  maintenance-free.   These one bedroom apartments provide reasonable monthly rates within the setting of our quiet, senior citizen community.  Services, if needed,  are available at an additional cost.

In 1991 our family welcomed Kingsway Manor Assisted Living.  This residence, accommodating 120 seniors, offers a luxurious alternative to living alone that includes personal care assistance, medication supervision, housekeeping and laundry services, and restaurant-style dining.  KingsDay Adult Day Services is located within the Kingsway Manor and offers a supervised, structured program to help seniors remain in the mainstream of life as long as possible.  Kingsway Respite Services affords caregivers temporary support services for care provided to a loved one...and peace of mind for caregivers.

No family would be complete without children.  Kingsway Kids Center provides care to 59 children, ages 8 weeks to 5 years old.  The Kingsway family recognizes the important role that children and seniors play in each others' lives and the two generations are given opportunity to share enjoyable activities together.

In 1997 Kingsway Home Care was added to meet the specific needs of those people who wish to remain in their home.  Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, a Home Health Aide can assist with bathing, dressing, laundry, light housekeeping errands and meal preparation.  Coverage can be hourly, daily, weekly or 24 hour live-in.  And in 2001, we introduced Kingsway Village Apartments, our most luxurious, independent living apartments with 6 floor plans and all services.

Kingsway values each individual entrusted to our care and encourages and supports  independence, autonomy and continued development.  Because of this we welcome the ideas and suggestions from family members as we continually strive to provide the best possible care for our residents.  Kingsway means "Caring in the Family Tradition".  Come see why so many people call Kingsway home.
