Kingsway Community & Mohawk Ambulance Legacy Honored By Ellis Medicine

June 3, 2023 - 6:00pm

On Saturday, June 3, 2023, The Foundation for Ellis Medicine honored Kingsway Community & Mohawk Ambulance Services: Legacies of Dr. J. Peter McPartlon.  Michael McPartlon, President/CEO of Kingsway Community, and his brother James P. McPartlon III, President of Mohawk Ambulance Service, received this honor, joined by family, friends and staff.  A video was created for this presentation, which we welcome you to watch!

The legacy created by Dr. J. Peter McPartlon has had an enduring impact on his family, as well as many in our community. After a successful career in dentistry, Dr. McPartlon devoted his professional expertise toward building two family-owned businesses that continue to provide essential services to the community to this day. Driven by a desire to ensure respectful and high-quality care for his own parents, he founded Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in 1975.  Dr. McPartlon’s vision grew, and today Kingsway Community is led by his son Michael.  As President & CEO, Michael McPartlon, along with his brother Patrick, Director of Finance, and a staff of over 500 dedicated and compassionate professionals work across a 25-acre campus offering a full continuum of care, from skilled nursing and rehabilitation, assisted living and memory care, to independent living apartments, home care, and respite.

In addition to being a businessman, Dr. McPartlon was a friend, and when a lifelong pal passed away, leaving Mohawk Ambulance & Oxygen Service in a perilous position, Dr. McPartlon offered his support and guidance eventually buying out the family and taking ownership of the business. Today, Mohawk Ambulance Service is the largest, privately-owned ambulance service in upstate New York.

Both Michael and Jim recall that one of the the biggest lessons Dr. McPartlon taught his family was: Take care of those who work for you, and they will take care of those you serve.
