Rediscover a local legend who made an immediate impact upon arrival in Schenectady in 1894. Steinmetz's mathematical and electrical contributions not only made him famous, on a national and international scale, similar to Edison and Tesla, his work also made possible the expansion of the electric power industry in the United States. At the time of his death, Steinmetz held over 200 patents, was a beloved Union College Professor, and a valued member of our community.
